Wildcats surge with 11-under final round as Utah Tech freshman David Liechty dominates individual race by eight shots
Abilene Christian claimed its first tournament title since 2022 with a strong finish at the Seattle U Redhawk Invitational, closing at 13-under 851 (293-287-271) for a four-shot victory at Chambers Bay.
The Wildcats pulled away in the final round with an 11-under 271, their second-best round in the Division I era, with every player finishing under par. Idaho finished runner-up at 9-under 855 (289-288-278), while defending champions UC Riverside placed 12th at 31-over.
Abilene Christian led the field with 52 birdies, ranked first in par-3 scoring at 1-under, and second on par-4s at 12-over, highlighting a balanced team performance.
In the individual competition, Utah Tech freshman David Liechty delivered a dominant performance, winning by eight shots at 16-under 200 (70-64-66) for his second title of the season.
The victory made Liechty the first Utah Tech player to win multiple events in a single Division I season and tied the program’s 54-hole scoring record.
Creighton senior Grant Feldman finished runner-up at 8-under 208 (69-72-67).
Abilene Christian placed three players inside the top 10, led by sophomore Jack Hollingsed and senior Thomas Buisson, who shared T-4 at 5-under 211. Hollingsed posted 75-69-67, while Buisson carded 70-72-69.
Senior Gregoire Hoyeau added a T-6 finish at 4-under 212 (72-75-65) to round out a strong showing for the Wildcats.
