Arizona, ranked No. 22 in the Scoreboard NCAA Division I men’s rankings, shot 25 under 839 (277-280-282) to edge out a one-shot victory at the Arizona Thunderbirds Intercollegiate at Tucson Country Club, continuing its dominance at home. The Wildcats have now won their home event eight times in the past nine years.
No. 32 Long Beach State finished runner-up at 24 under 840 (282-274-284), just one shot short.
Long Beach State senior Alejandro de Castro Piera claimed individual honors at 13 under 203 (65-65-73), securing a three-shot victory and his first collegiate title. He built his lead with back-to-back rounds of 7 under 65, including completing his second round after a weather delay, before closing with a 73.
Arizona’s depth proved decisive, placing three players inside the top five. Senior Filip Jakubcik led the team with a runner-up finish at 10 under 206 (67-69-70). Freshman William Wistrand and sophomore Taishi Moto shared third place at 7 under 209, with Wistrand posting rounds of 68-71-70 and Moto carding 70-69-70.
