Freshman sensation Nguyen blazed to a 10-under 61, tying Oregon State's individual record and powering the team to its first title
Oregon State delivered a dominant performance at the Bandon Dunes Championship, winning the team title by 17 strokes while freshman Nguyen Anh Minh captured the individual championship at 13-under 200 (61-70-69).
The Beavers finished at 29-under 821 (263-281-277) to comfortably outdistance defending champion Oregon, which placed runner-up at 14-under (268-286-284).
The victory marked Oregon State’s first team title since the 2024 Redhawk Invitational and the program’s first win at the Bandon Dunes Championship since 2020.
Anh Minh led the charge with a standout week highlighted by a 10-under 61 in the opening round, which tied the Oregon State individual round record. He followed with rounds of 70 and 69 to secure the title and become the first Beaver to win an individual championship at Bandon. The win also made him the first Oregon State individual champion since Jackson Lake at the 2024 Redhawk Invitational.
The Vietnamese freshman arrived in Corvallis with an impressive amateur résumé. He won the 2024 Malaysia Amateur Championship and captured both the individual and team titles at the 30th Nomura Cup (Asia-Pacific Amateur Team Championship) held in Vietnam in October 2024.
Oregon State placed four players inside the top 10. Senior Rylan Johnson finished third at 7-under (66-68-72), while freshman Ethan Elleraas claimed fourth at 6-under (68-74-65) after producing his best round as a Beaver with a 6-under 65 in the final round, highlighted by an eagle on the par-5 12th and five birdies. Senior Collin Hodgkinson rounded out the top performers with a T-10 finish at 3-under (68-70-72).
Statistically, Oregon State led the field in par-3 scoring (2.96 average) and par-4 scoring (4.02) while recording 68 birdies, 12 more than SIU Edwardsville, which finished second in the category with 56.
Individually, Anh Minh led the field in par-4 scoring with a 3.74 average and recorded 17 birdies, the most in the tournament.
