Kentucky close at 11-under to snatch Colleton River crown by a shot, ending seven-year wait for team title

Kentucky edged Ohio State by one shot to win the Colleton River Collegiate, closing at 11-under par (284-280-289) to top a 15-team field and claim their first title since 2018.

The Wildcats held their nerve in a one-over final round, with pars on the demanding par-4 18th from Jack Schoenberger, Cole Stockard and Jacob Lang proving decisive. Kentucky finished with 53 birdies for the week — the most of any team in the field.

The win marked the program’s first since the Gary Koch Invitational in April 2018. Defending champions Michigan State finished 10th at 7-over (294-295-282).

Individually, Kentucky senior Jack Schoenberger finished runner-up at 8-under (69-68-71), two shots behind Memphis junior Diego Do Patrocinio Lourenco. Schoenberger shot under par in all three rounds and made just four bogeys all week — tied for the fewest in the field.

Lourenco claimed medalist honours at 10-under (70-68-68) for his third collegiate victory and first of the season. He began the final round one stroke back in third place before closing with a second straight 68 to win by two. After sitting 3-under through 26 holes, he played his final 28 holes bogey-free in seven-under par. He was the only player in the field to post two rounds of 68 or better.

Freshman Cole Stockard continued his strong season with a tied-fifth finish at 5-under (71-70-70), leading the 92-player field with 16 birdies. Sophomore Jacob Lang made it three Wildcats inside the top-20, finishing tied-19th at even par (71-71-74) with counting scores in all three rounds.

Kentucky left South Carolina with momentum — and a long-awaited trophy.
