Western Washington Uni places three in top 10 to edge hosts and win Fujikura Invitational.
Western Washington picked up right where its fall ended, opening the spring with a team win at the Fujikura Invitational at Shadowridge Golf Club.
The Vikings finished even-par 864 over 54 holes to secure the title, climbing from a tie for third entering the final round and then holding off host Cal State San Marcos by three shots.
Western Washington University’s scorecard was built on a balanced top end. The Vikings put three players inside the top 10 in the 75-player field, led by freshman Henry Kippenhan, who finished T-4th at 1-under 215 after rounds of 74-69-72. Juniors Conrad Brown and Christopher Zamani finished T-7th at even-par 216 — Brown with 70-74-72 and Zamani with 71-76-69.
Senior captain Peter Dionne-Yahr T-18th at 3-over 219, while junior Rex Wilson finished T-52nd at 13-over 229.
The result continues a strong 2025–26 season for Western Washington. The Vikings won the Otter Invitational in October and also finished T-1st at the Chico State Wildcat Classic in September, and they’ve now opened the spring with another trophy.
Individually, Cal State San Marcos redshirt freshman Liam Weaver turned the event into a runaway, shooting 71-67-68 to finish 10-under and win by seven shots.
Western Washington’s takeaway was simpler: no rust, no easing in — just another week of steady scoring and a team that keeps finding ways to win.
