Razorbacks finish six clear at -23, with Abbey Schutte tying for medalist honours

Fourth-ranked Arkansas began its spring season with another statement victory, winning the Purdue Puerto Rico Classic at Grand Reserve Golf Club in Rio Grande.

The Razorbacks finished at 23-under, six shots clear of No. 10 Vanderbilt and No. 15 Ole Miss, who once again shared second place — just as they did in the 2025 edition.

Arkansas’ victory marked its third straight Puerto Rico Classic crown and its third team title of the 2025–26 season. The Razorbacks were one of only two teams to finish under par in all three rounds.

Junior Abbey Schutte finished at 10-under to earn a share of individual honours in a three-way tie, following her first collegiate win at The Ally in October.

The win also continued Arkansas’ recent dominance at the event. Last year, the Razorbacks captured the 2025 title at 19-under with rounds of 292-280-273, winning by a commanding 13 shots.

Maria José Marin, last year’s individual champion, delivered another strong week, rising into a tie for eighth at five-under after climbing 11 spots in the final round.

Arkansas built its victory with a tournament-best second round of 13-under 275, carrying a one-shot lead into Monday before closing steadily as North Carolina slipped back. Paulina Zibilski and Marin both posted final-round 70s to finish inside the top 10, while the Razorbacks’ depth once again proved decisive.

For Arkansas, it was the ideal spring start — a defended title, another individual trophy, and continued control of an event they have now made their own.
