FJGT at Juliette Falls: Wire-to-wire wins

Greg Carrier and Cindy Feng go wire-to-wire

DUNNELLON, Fla. (Feb. 15, 2009) -- Greg Carrier and Cindy Feng each went wire-to-wire to capture the 16-18 division of the Florida Junior Tour’s (FJT) event at Juliette Falls in Dunnellon February 14-15. Shooting a first round 68, Greg Carrier, of Ponte Vedra Beach, was in prime position to win his second FJT title of the year. Holding off a late charging Drew Guffey, of Bartow, who posted a new competitive course record at Juliette Falls with a five-under par 67, Greg Carrier held onto his five stroke lead with a second round of two-under par 70 to finish the event with a 138 total and the title. Shooting a first round 76 and bolstered by the second round of 67, Drew Guffey finished second. Andrew Kim, of Lake Mary, New Jersey, shot 74-70--144 to finish third. Cindy Feng, of Orlando, officially takes the lead in the Girls 13-15 and 16-18 Division Points Race with her victory. Shooting rounds of 71-74, she finished the event with a 145 total and a six stroke victory. This is Feng’s sixth FJT victory of the 2008-09 season. Briana Carlson, of Inverness, tied with Jessica Negron, of Ocala, for second place honors. Carlson shot 78-73 while Negron recorded rounds of 80-71 for a 151 total.
