11th Latin America Amateur Championship Set to begin today at Lima Golf Club

The 11th Latin America Amateur Championship (LAAC) will be played January 15–18, 2026 at Lima Golf Club in Peru, with 108 players from 29 countries competing over 72 holes.

Co-founded by The Masters Tournament, The R&A and the USGA, the LAAC is the region’s premier amateur championship and a direct pathway into golf’s biggest stages.
The champion earns invitations to the 2026 Masters at Augusta National and exemptions into The 154th Open at Royal Birkdale and the 126th U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills, plus starts in the 2026 Amateur Championship and the 2026 U.S. Amateur.

There are also significant secondary rewards: runner-up(s) receive places in Final Qualifying for The Open and U.S. Open and exemptions into the 2026 U.S. Amateur, while the top three earn invitations to The Amateur Championship.

Host nation Peru leads a field with deep regional representation, alongside countries such as Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Mexico and Panama.

Hastings edged Patrick Sparks of Peru, becoming the second Cayman Islands player to win the title after Aaron Jarvis (2022). The victory earned Hastings starts at the Masters, The Open, and the U.S. Open, capping a marathon Saturday that tested both endurance and nerve as darkness fell.
