Restrepo survived an early wobble to win by three, while Naughton’s 10-under total set a new girls’ scoring mark
Colombia’s Tomas Restrepo closed with a 3-under 69 to win the Junior Orange Bowl International boys’ title by three shots at the Biltmore Golf Course on Tuesday.
Restrepo entered the final round with a four-shot lead after a Monday 64, but it turned into a grind early when he made three bogeys in his first eight holes. He steadied himself with timely putts, played the rest of the way with just one bogey, and never let the chasing pack get closer than two.
Restrepo finished at 14-under 270, becoming the third Colombian boy to lift the Junior Orange Bowl trophy, joining Camilo Benedetti and Camilo Villegas.
Frederick Egnatios of Scottsdale, AZ, made the strongest late push, closing with a 67 to finish runner-up, three back. Warren Stiglitz shot 68 to take third, one shot behind Egnatios.
England’s Ben Sessions finished T24, while Charlie Woods closed with a 72 to finish T19 at 4-over. Cameron Kuchar shot 70 and ended the week tied for 15th.
Naughton breaks scoring record with seven-shot win
England’s Charlotte Naughton delivered a runaway win in the girls’ championship, shooting 10-under 274 to become the first girl in Junior Orange Bowl history to finish double-digits under par across four rounds.
The Longhirst Hall golfer won by seven shots, adding the Junior Orange Bowl title to a standout 2025 resume that already includes the World Junior Girls Championship (Canada) and the German Girls’ Amateur Championship.
Naughton sealed the record with a closing 3-under 69, highlighted by a nervy finish — a chip-and-putt from the base of a greenside mound for birdie at the par-5 18th.
“I’m very pleased with myself,” said the 17-year-old. “I didn’t know it was for a tournament record when I had that putt, but it was a nice way to finish.”
Her 274 total was one shot better than fellow English winner Lily May Humphreys when she won in 2017, and Naughton’s seven-shot margin was the largest since Humphreys’ nine-shot win.
It was also a performance built on control rather than risk. Naughton played her final two rounds bogey-free, and made just one bogey over her final 47 holes.
“This course, you have to give it some respect because it’s so challenging,” she said. “I made sure I saved myself when I could and took birdie chances when I could, but I didn’t get too aggressive.”
One of the biggest saves came at the par-4 16th, where she found a fried-egg lie in a greenside bunker. She blasted out to 20 feet and rolled in the uphill putt to keep the streak alive.
“That was quite big,” she said. “I just wanted to get it within the range so I could have a chance to make par.”
Behind her, Nina Choe recovered from a rough finish on Monday with a closing 72 to claim runner-up honours.
“I just didn’t have my strongest game today,” said the New Yorker. “I left a lot of putts out there all day, but (Naughton) played great and she deserves the win.”
The newly crowned champions join a Junior Orange Bowl roll of honour that includes Tiger Woods (1991), Inbee Park (2002), Lexi Thompson (2009), Brooke Henderson (2013) and Joaquin Niemann (2014).
This year’s field featured entrants from 37 nations, and the Junior Orange Bowl Golf Championships are part of the wider Junior Orange Bowl International Youth Festival, now in its 78th edition, which draws more than 7,500 youth participants to South Florida each year.
