Theo Anderson claimed the Championship Division title at the 2025 Winter Invitational at San Juan Oaks

Dates: December 13–14, 2025 | Venue: San Juan Oaks Golf Club, Hollister, CA
Presented by: Callaway Golf
HOLLISTER, Calif. — A fast-moving final round capped a competitive weekend at San Juan Oaks Golf Club, as the AmateurGolf.com 2025 Winter Invitational presented by Callaway Golf crowned champions across all major divisions in its first year at the renovated venue.
In the Championship Division, Theo Anderson (San Rafael, CA) delivered a composed closing round of 3-under 69 to secure the title at 4-under par (140). After opening with a 71, Anderson separated late on Sunday with steady ball-striking and efficient scoring on the back nine to hold off a strong final-round charge.
Chris Marin (Monterey, CA) made the biggest move of the championship, firing a tournament-low 5-under 67 on Sunday to finish runner-up at 2-under (142). Jed Dy (Rancho Santa Fe, CA) finished third at even par (144), while Vinay Ramesh and Cathy Zhang shared fourth at +2 (146).
In the Women’s Division, Cathy Zhang (San Ramon, CA) backed up her opening-round 72 with a solid 74 on Sunday to claim the title at +2 (146), finishing comfortably clear of the chasing pack.
The Senior Championship Division saw Craig Miyamoto (Sacramento, CA) convert his opening-round lead into a victory, finishing at +1 (145) after rounds of 69–76. The leaderboard remained tight throughout Sunday, but Miyamoto’s first-round cushion proved decisive.
Chris Marin also earned Low Scorer honors in the Mid-Amateur Division (Men, 25–49), while Jim Williams (Orinda, CA) claimed the Super Senior title at +5 (149), highlighted by a steady 72 in the final round.
December golf has a way of separating intention from execution. The crowds are gone, the air is crisp, and the game feels honest again. Beginning Saturday morning, the AmateurGolf.com 2025 Winter Invitational presented by Callaway Golf embraces that reality as it tees off at San Juan Oaks Golf Club for the first time.
Set in the oak-lined foothills near Hollister, San Juan Oaks enters the spotlight as the Invitational’s new home following a venue shift from Corica Park. The move brings a distinct change in character—less urban, more strategic, and ideally suited for a two-day winter championship built around pace, shot-making, and competitive balance.
Originally designed by Fred Couples and Gene Bates, San Juan Oaks has long been admired for its natural routing and variety of approach shots. A comprehensive modernization completed in late 2024 refined those strengths without erasing the course’s original identity.

The renovation emphasized strategic restraint: fewer bunkers, clearer angles, improved turf consistency, and infrastructure upgrades that allow the course to play firm and fair even in December conditions. Greens were rebuilt for smoother roll rather than raw speed, encouraging confident putting and rewarding players who control trajectory and distance.
For this week’s field, that translates into a course that asks thoughtful questions rather than issuing blunt demands. Precision off the tee matters. Approaches must be played to the correct side. And around the greens, creativity remains an asset—especially as winter lies invite imagination.
The Winter Invitational is designed to respect both competition and calendar. The event is contested over 36 holes, with threesomes off split tees and an intentional pace-of-play standard targeting approximately 4.5 hours per round.
That structure allows the focus to remain where it belongs—on scoring swings, leaderboard movement, and the subtleties that emerge over two rounds rather than survival over four days.
Multiple gross divisions ensure meaningful competition throughout the field, including:
With cooler air and slightly heavier playing conditions expected, patience and course management should play as large a role as raw power.
San Juan Oaks offers something increasingly rare: a tournament-ready course that cooperates with winter golf rather than fighting it. Firm but fair surfaces, modern infrastructure, and a routing that rewards decision-making make it an ideal stage for a season-ending championship.
For AmateurGolf.com, the pairing feels intentional. For players, it’s a chance to finish the year with purpose—and to start December with something meaningful on the line.
Two days. One restored California classic. And a leaderboard that will take shape shot by shot.
