Sweden has a new golf star to celebrate. Twenty-year-old amateur Meja Ortengren delivered a fearless performance at the Hills Open, capturing her first Ladies European Tour (LET) title on home soil with a two-shot victory at Hills Golf & Sports Club.
The Stanford University sophomore held off a strong international field and the weight of home expectations to become the latest amateur to etch her name into LET history, following in the footsteps of Lottie Woad earlier this summer in Ireland and Jana Melichova at the 2022 Czech Ladies Open.

A Composed Finish Under Pressure
Starting the final round tied for the lead with Germany’s Leonie Harm, Ortengren surged ahead with five birdies, building a four-shot cushion midway through the back nine. But gusting winds and nerves tightened the contest, cutting her lead to just one shot heading up the 18th.
Unfazed, Ortengren poured in a closing birdie to seal the victory.
“I’m lost for words,” Ortengren said afterward. “To win at home, in front of my family, is something I’ll never forget. It got tough out there when the wind picked up, but I tried to stay calm and trust my game.”
Her brother Alexander carried the bag, while both parents walked every step of the way. The family embrace behind the 18th green spoke louder than words.

Two shots behind, Lisa Pettersson of Sweden and Leonie Harm of Germany shared runner-up honors at four-under par.
Pettersson, who thrilled the home crowd with a birdie on the last, praised Ortengren’s composure.
“Meja played outstanding golf. I pushed as much as I could, but she earned this one.”
Harm, the overnight co-leader, produced a streaky round that featured early birdies but was undone by mid-round bogeys. Still, a tie for second marks an important step in her comeback after nearly walking away from competitie golf last season.
