Learn how the USGA’s National Development Program Grant supports junior golfers with up to $15,000 in funding
The United States Golf Association (USGA) is investing in the future of American golf through its U.S. National Development Program™ (USNDP). Designed to identify, train, develop, fund, and support the nation’s most promising junior golfers, the USNDP ensures that talent—not resources—decides who reaches the game’s highest levels.
By removing financial barriers and delivering vital player-development resources, the program makes American junior golf more equitable, competitive, and globally dominant.
The U.S. National Development Program is the USGA’s most ambitious initiative to support and elevate American junior golf talent. It ensures that every talented player has a fair chance to compete, improve, and progress—regardless of background or geography.
Historically, success in junior golf has often depended on access to coaching, travel, tournaments, and equipment—resources that many families couldn’t afford. The USNDP is designed to remove those barriers so that talent—not wealth—determines who rises.
The USGA recognizes that for American golf to remain the world leader, it must foster all of its talent. Many countries have national programs that help young players develop and compete internationally. The USNDP is America’s answer: a unified, strategic approach to developing future champions.
By funding athletes, offering development tools, and setting consistent standards, the USNDP aims to build a sustainable pipeline of elite talent for the sport.
The USNDP isn’t just about creating pros—it’s about strengthening all of amateur golf:
In short, the USNDP is raising the bar for American amateur golf, making it more competitive, inclusive, and equitable.
When junior golfers have access to resources, the entire sport benefits:
It’s a vision for American golf that is not just successful—but fair, inclusive, and world-leading.
The USNDP Grant is a reimbursement-based award for families with competitive junior golfers who demonstrate financial need and exceptional potential. Grants are awarded in the following amounts:
Funding covers incurred expenses in categories such as tournament entry fees, travel, equipment, practice/green fees, and coaching fees.
Awards are reimbursement-based and managed by a parent/guardian who must submit an IRS Form W-9. Previous recipients must reapply each year.
The 2026 application period will run from mid-July through October 31, 2025. Parents/guardians must apply on behalf of athletes via the secure USNDP Grant Management Center. Email submissions will not be accepted.
Parents/guardians should manage the account in their own name. The portal supports multiple athletes under one household.
Applications are reviewed based on Financial Needs Assessment, Performance Assessment, and Grant Committee Evaluation. The number of grants depends on qualified applicants and available funding.
