Final Recap: 2025 Trans-Mississippi Amateur
Lance Simpson completed a dominant wire-to-wire victory at the 121st Trans-Mississippi Amateur, closing with a steady 2-under 69 on Friday at Indiana University's Pfau Course to finish at 17-under-par (267).
The University of Tennessee standout was nearly flawless all week, making just one bogey over 72 holes. His rounds of 64-67-67-69 showcased precision iron play, smart course management, and calm putting on the Pfau’s sloping, bunkered greens.
With his win, Simpson earns an automatic exemption into the U.S. Amateur in August at The Olympic Club—a fitting reward after an incredible performance that highlighted his status as one of amateur golf’s most disciplined and consistent players.
Closest pursuers Cooper Schultz (-13) and Declan O’Donovan (-12) played inspired golf but couldn’t cut into Simpson’s lead during the final round. Schultz shot a final 67 to finish solo second.
