West Florida claimed the 2025 NCAA Division II Men’s Championship in a dramatic playoff over Colorado Christian
The 2025 NCAA Division II Men’s Golf Championship delivered peak collegiate drama at PGA National Resort. From an opening field of 80 teams, two heavyweights — Colorado Christian and West Florida — emerged to face off in a national title match that ended in a 2.5–2.5 deadlock. But when the pressure peaked, it was West Florida who prevailed, winning a sudden-death playoff to claim their third national championship — and first in 17 years.
Hunter Smith of North Georgia etched his name in DII history by winning the individual title at 6-under-par (71–67–72). The junior’s steady play and fearless putting down the stretch gave him a one-shot victory — the biggest individual win of his career.
Colorado Christian lived up to its No. 1 ranking, taking medalist honors at 8-under. Their 280 final round was the best of the week. West Florida, Missouri S&T, and North Georgia also stood out, while Oklahoma Christian surged on the final day to sneak into the bracket.
