The lineup of fairway woods and hybrids prioritize solid contact, easy launch, and versatile shot-shaping capabilities
As Callaway launches its groundbreaking Elyte family, amateur golfers have a new arsenal of fairway woods and hybrids designed to enhance versatility and performance on the course. Building on the success of the Elyte drivers, the fairway woods and hybrids in the Elyte series incorporate advanced technologies and innovative designs to address common golfing challenges, offering solutions that cater to a wide range of playing styles and skill levels.
“Our fairway woods have always been number one in market share and global tours,” says Zack Oakley, Senior Product Manager at Callaway. “Making them even better was a formidable challenge, but we focused on addressing the most common struggles golfers face—like low-face strikes and inconsistent contact.” The result is a lineup of Elyte fairway woods and hybrids that prioritize solid contact, easy launch, and versatile shot-shaping capabilities.
Innovative Fairway Woods: Versatility Meets Performance
The Elyte fairway woods are engineered to tackle the two main issues golfers encounter: low-face strikes and inconsistent contact, especially when hitting off the deck. By integrating Tungsten Speed Wave technology and the Step Sole design, Callaway has created fairway woods that offer improved performance and consistency.
“Tungsten Speed Wave is a game-changer for low-center strikes,” explains Brian Williams, Vice President of R&D at Callaway. “We’ve almost doubled the tungsten compared to our previous models and removed it from the sole to eliminate any stiffening effect. This allows for more deflection low on the face while maintaining a very low and forward center of gravity, which is excellent for ball speed and spin.” This technology ensures that even low-face strikes result in impressive ball speed and optimal spin, enhancing overall performance.
ELYTE HYBRIDS
The Elyte hybrids extend the family’s commitment to versatility and performance. Designed to offer seamless integration into any golfer’s bag, these hybrids feature AI10x Face Technology and interchangeable heel-toe weights, allowing for precise shot-shaping and optimal launch conditions.
“Our hybrids feature interchangeable heel-toe weights and the new OptiFit 4 hosel system, allowing golfers to adjust shot shapes and achieve up to 12 yards of shot shape adjustability,” Zack explains. This level of customization ensures that hybrids can cater to a wide range of golfers, from Tour players to weekend warriors.
The hybrid lineup includes three distinct models:
Elyte Hybrid
This model provides a neutral ball flight with a mid-sized profile, making it an excellent choice for golfers seeking a versatile and reliable hybrid that complements both fairway woods and irons.
Elyte X Hybrid
Offering enhanced forgiveness and a draw bias, the Elyte X Hybrid is perfect for players who need additional help shaping their shots while maintaining control and consistency.
Elyte Max Fast Hybrid
Designed for moderate swing speeds, this hybrid features a larger, shallow profile that sits lower to the ground, facilitating easy launch and maximizing distance for golfers looking to enhance their performance effortlessly.
Cutting-Edge Technologies for Enhanced Performance
The Elyte fairway woods and hybrids are built on the foundation of advanced technologies that Callaway has honed over years of research and development. The Tungsten Speed Wave and Step Sole designs work in harmony to ensure that every swing results in optimal performance, whether you're hitting from the fairway or tackling a challenging approach shot.
“By leveraging advanced materials and innovative design, we’ve addressed the key issues golfers face with fairway woods and hybrids,” Brian notes. “This means more consistent contact, better ball speed, and enhanced control across the board.”
Premium Shaft and Grip Options
Callaway has also provided a variety of premium shafts and grips to complement the Elyte fairway woods and hybrids. From the lightweight Mitsubishi Chemical Vanquish PL to the versatile True Temper Project X Denali Charcoal and the classic Golf Pride Tour Velvet 360, these options ensure that every golfer can find the perfect combination to match their swing dynamics and performance preferences.
