The duo was a model of consistency for the week, carding three rounds of 65 to defeat defending champion Chip Lutz
Pete Williams and Bill Williamson shot three rounds of 65 to finish with a team score of 195 and win the 2024 National Senior Junior Championship at The Cape Club of Palm City in Palm City, Fla., by two shots over Chip Lutz and Ryan Abbate.
Players had to deal with mother nature and less-than-ideal conditions throughout the week, as the final round was delayed by 30 minutes.
Lutz and Jeff Osberg won the 2023 National Senior Junior, which was played at the Preserve Golf Club in January.
Lawrence Alan and Grady Brame finished T3 with rounds of 67-69-63 for a team score of 199, and Tommy Brennan and Patrick Christovich also finished T3 at 199 with rounds of 65-69-65.
Richard Donegan and Bruce Levinson finished in solo fifth place with a team score of 201 and rounds of 66-69-67 to round out the top five.
Williamson has an accomplished resume as a mid-amateur, winning the Ohio Mid-Amateur three times (2009, 2020, 2021), finishing runner-up at the 2013 U.S. Mid-Amateur and runner-up at the 2017 Crump Cup. He is a member of the Akron Athletics Hall of Fame. He is also an 18-time USGA championships participant.
Williams made the match play portion of the 2019 U.S. Senior Amateur and recently finished in solo second place at the Sunnehanna Senior Amateur.
The National Senior Junior pairs one mid-amateur with one senior golfer and has been a championship rich with tradition and prestige throughout the years.
