William Huang shoots an opening round 6-under 65 to tie for the lowest round in Princeton golf’s modern history
William Huang put on a clinic at the Georgetown Intercollegiate, cruising to a dominant nine-shot victory and leading Princeton to both the individual and team titles. Huang set the pace with an electric 6-under 65 in the opening round, followed by two solid rounds of 1-under 70, locking in the third win of his collegiate career.
Reed Greyserman, Huang’s teammate, also made his mark. After a 1-over 72 in the first round, he found his groove, firing back-to-back even-par rounds to finish at 1-over overall—a career-best result for the sophomore.
Greyserman won the 2024 New Jersey State Amateur, joining his brother PGA Tour card-carrying brother Max.
Princeton’s team effort was just as impressive. Their 7-over total of 859 was enough to outlast Campbell by eight strokes, though it wasn’t easy. Campbell stormed out of the gates with a 10-under in the first round, putting them six shots ahead of Princeton’s 4-under. But as gusty winds took over on day two, Campbell stumbled to a 10-over, while Princeton stayed within striking distance with a 7-over, setting the stage for a final-day showdown.
In the decisive third round, the Tigers rose to the occasion, posting the best team score of the day at 4-over to leapfrog Campbell and secure their second team title of the season, following their win at the Howard/USF Intercollegiate earlier in the fall.
Huang's opening 65 wasn’t just a personal milestone—it tied for the lowest round in Princeton golf’s modern history, dating back to the 1993-94 season. His victory adds to the Tigers’ strong campaign, which includes a win from teammate Riccardo Fantinelli earlier this season.
The depth of Princeton’s squad was on full display, with four players finishing in the top 20. Huang and Greyserman took the top two spots, but they had plenty of support. Sophomore Charlie Palmer, last season’s Ivy League Rookie of the Year, carded rounds of 70-75-74 to tie for 8th at 6-over. Freshman Eric Yun capped off the Tigers' strong showing, shooting 73-75-73 to finish 18th at 8-over, rounding out a complete team effort.
