In the men's competition, Drew Wilson of Arkansas and Mehrbaan Singh of Virginia Tech lead while LSU leads the team race
In the first round of the Blessings Golf Club, the host school Arkansas holds a comfortable lead in the women's competition, while LSU is out to the early lead in the men's competition at The Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville, Ark.
On the women's side, Arkansas shot a team round of 9-under 279 to take a seven-shot lead into the second round. Mississippi State is in solo second place at 2-under, and Kansas State is in solo third place at even par.
BYU is in solo fourth place at 6-over, and Louisville finished in solo fifth place at 9-over.
Maria Jose Marin of Arkansas, who reached the 2024 U.S. Women's Amateur semifinals after earning medalist honors, shot an impressive round of 7-under 65 to take an early three-shot lead.
Jose Marin is currently ranked No. 25 in the Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com Women's Rankings.
Julia Lopez Ramirez of Mississippi State and Carla Bernat of Kansas State are T2 at 4-under, and Ffion Tynan of Missouri is in solo fourth place at 3-under.
Reagan Zibilski of Arkansas and Alexa Udom of BYU are T5 at 2-under.
In the men's competition, LSU shot a team round of 3-under 285 to take the early two-shot lead. Mississippi State is in solo second place at 1-under, and no one else is within 12 shots of the lead.
In the individual competition, Drew Wilson of Arkansas and Mehrbaan Singh of Virginia Tech shot 2-under 70 to tie for the opening-round lead. Sebastian Moss of Louisville, Gunnlaugur Arni Sveinsson, Jay Mendell, and Luke Haskew of LSU are all T3 at 1-under.
24 golfers are within four shots of the lead.
