May River High School (Bluffton, S.C.) triumphed over upstate rival Dorman High School
May River High School (Bluffton, S.C.) triumphed over upstate rival Dorman High School (Roebuck, S.C.) to capture the team title at the second annual Style Driver Girls High School Palmetto Tournament of Champions, held September 14-15 at True Blue Golf Club.
This tournament was made possible by Style Driver’s commitment to supporting girls’ high school golf, marking another step in the growing investment into the women’s game worldwide. Style Driver ensured that top teams and individual players from across the region could compete without the financial burden of entry fees. True to Style Driver’s nature, they also provided custom welcome gift packages.
"Partnerships and a people-first approach are at the heart of our business," said Todd Stires, Managing Partner of Style Driver. "We're proud to sponsor an event that empowers our youth and inspires the next generation of golfers."
In the individual scoring, Durham Academy’s Jenna Kim (-9) showcased her talent with stellar rounds of 68 and 67, earning a 7-stroke victory and successfully defending her title. Her win included a hole-in-one at the island green 3rd hole. Just a sophomore, Kim already won a Carolinas Junior Girls' Championhsip earlier this year and is presently ranked #3 in the TYGA NC Rankings.
Teammate Saia Rampersaud (-2) and Atlantic Collegiate Academy’s Hannah Lowery (+2) followed closely, finishing in second and third place, respectively.
Style Driver’s sponsorship enabled the participation of strong teams like Chesnee (S.C.), Durham Academy (N.C.), and Waccamaw (S.C.), which rounded out the top five.
The Style Driver Girls High School Palmetto Tournament of Champions was a showcase not only of the region’s top talent but also of what is possible when sponsors commit to growing the sport.
With additional support from presenting sponsor Campbell University’s PGA Golf Management, the tournament has set the stage for future growth, creating opportunities for young women to excel in the game.
