Johnson was two over through the three days to comfortably win by six shots
Yancey Johnson of Simpsonville, S.C., posted an impressive three-day tournament total of two-over par 218 to secure the 66th SCGA Senior Champion title. Firing three birdies today and finishing with a final round score of two-over par 74, securing the win by six shots.
“This week was really tough,” said Johnson. The greens were really firm, and the wind was up, especially today, so judging some shots was really tough. The greens are really small; you just have to get there, or it's a tough up-and-down."
Johnson added, "I struck the ball really well this week, but I putted even better, and I think that's what helped me. So, all in and out, it was a great day, great week, it was awesome."
Chris Culler of Camden secured second place, finishing with an overall tournament score of 8-over par 224.
The 2024 SCGA Senior Championship was played on the par 72, 6,463-yard course at Moss Creek Golf Club in Hilton Head, SC. The starting field consisted of 93 players over the age of 55.
The cut was made to the low 60 and ties after 36 holes. The Senior Championship is one of 21 Major Championships conducted annually by the South Carolina Golf Association.

The SCGA Senior Championship is an opportunity for amateurs over the age of 55 years to gather and test their abilities against some of the best golfers and golf courses that South Carolina has to offer.
