The Oklahoma State standout shot a second round 7-under 64 to get to 11-under and is T11 heading into the weekend.
Preston Stout of Oklahoma State is 11-under and T11 at the Veritex Bank Championship at Texas Rangers Golf Club in Arlington, Tex., on the Korn Ferry Tour.
Stout has shot rounds of 67-64, and his second round 7-under 64 was highlighted by a 4-under start through the first three holes and a hole-out eagle on No. 1. He jumped 39 spots up the leaderboard in the second round.
Last June, Stout won the 24th Veritex Bank Byron Nelson Junior Championship for the third consecutive year at Lakewood Country Club.
Stout tied Jordan Spieth, who won the event three straight years from 2008-2010, for most victories (total and consecutive) of the prestigious 54-hole championship. Stout defeated Frisco’s Davis Ovard on the first playoff hole by making a two-foot birdie putt.
For the second straight year, Stout won via a playoff. He carded a final round 4-under 67 to finish at 14-under for the championship.
It has been a story-filled week on the Korn Ferry Tour so far, as Frankie Capan III recorded 11 birdies and an eagle to shoot a bogey-free 13-under 58. Capan becomes the second player to shoot a 58 in competition on the Korn Ferry Tour.
Capan made quick work of the course en route to the 58.

On the par-5 No. 9, Capan only had 171 yards into the green after his drive, and he putt his second shot to six feet to record the eagle. He had a chance to shoot 57 or even a 56 as he was 13-under heading to the par-5 No. 18, but his drive found the fairway bunker, and he settled for an up-and-down par to shoot 13-under 58.
Also, 15-year-old Miles Russell played in his straight Korn Ferry Tour event, and even though he missed the cut, he shot rounds of 68-70. He has now shot six rounds under par in his six rounds played on the Korn Ferry Tour.
