Carla Bernat of Kansas State leads by one shot in the individual competition and Anna Davis makes her collegiate debut
LSU leads the Puerto Rico Women's Classic at the Grand Reserve Golf Club in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico, by a slim one-shot margin over Texas A&M. Purdue University hosts the tournament.
LSU is 4-under, and Texas A&M is 3-under with 18 holes remaining. LSU took a one-shot lead in the first round after the Tigers shot a team score of 283 and the Aggies shot 284. Both teams shot 289 in the second round to keep the Tigers one shot ahead.
Ingrid Lindblad, who is ranked No. 1 in the Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com Women's rankings, is T3 and is leading the way for the Tigers. Jordan Fischer is T15, and Carla Tejedo Mulet and Latanna Stone are T19.
Oklahoma State is in solo third place at 1-under, Arkansas is in solo fourth place at 2-over, and Auburn is in solo fifth place at 3-over.
In the individual competition, Carla Bernat of Kansas State is leading the field by one shot at 6-under. She shot an impressive 5-under 67 in the first round and followed it up with a 1-under 71 in the second round.
Anna Morgan of Furman is in solo second place and one shot back of Bernat at 5-under.
Lindblad, Isabella McCauley of Minnesota, Momo Sugiyama of Purdue, Marta Silchenko of Oklahoma State, and Blanca Fernandez Garcia-Poggio are all T3 and two shots back of Bernat at 4-under.
Anna Davis of Auburn is playing in her first collegiate tournament and is T29 at 2-over. Davis has been consistent, shooting rounds of 73-73 in her debut thus far.
Davis won the 2022 Augusta National Women's Amateur and made the 2023 U.S. Women's Amateur quarterfinals. She most recently finished in solo second place at the AmateurGolf.com San Diego Amateur.
