Pablo Alperi Lopez of Spain shot 1-over 289 following his rounds of 75-77-67-70 to win the Balearic Cup by a slim one-shot margin at Alcanada Golf Club in the Majorcan town of Port d'Alcúdia.
Alvaro Pastor Roman, Sebastian Desoisa, and George Young Casanova secured joint runner-up honors, trailing the leader by just one shot at a total of 2-over 290. Roman posted rounds of 76-74-71-69, while Desoisa carded 73-76-71-70, and Casanova concluded with scores of 71-72-75-72.
Entering the final round positioned fourth, Lopez found himself trailing by four shots behind Santiago Juesas Benet, who had secured a 54-hole lead at 1-under par with rounds of 72-72-71. However, Benet started with a bogey on No. 1, followed by a birdie on No. 4 and a double-bogey on No. 5.
Struggling throughout the back nine, Benet concluded his final round with an 80, resulting in a T9 finish. This opened the door for Lopez, who capitalized on the opportunity, delivering a steady 2-under 70 to claim the trophy.
Despite posting the day's lowest round at 3-under 69, highlighted by a spectacular eagle on the par-5 No. 13, Roman fell just one stroke short of Lopez. Ultimately, Roman settled for a T2 finish.
In 2023, Lopez participated in 15 ranked events, securing victories in the Balearic Cup, European Men’s Club Trophy, and Campeonato del Principado de Asturias Absoluto. His season also included four additional top-10 finishes this season, solidifying this as one of his most successful campaigns on the amateur golf circuit in Spain.
