LIVE SCORING: U.S. Girls' Junior underway in Colorado Springs
History is being made this week in Colorado in more ways than one. Not only will a champion be crowned at the U.S. Girls' Junior, but for the first time in history, a USGA championship will be conducted on a military base. The Eisenhower G.C. resides on the property of the United States Air Force Academy.
The site was originally scheduled to host in 2020, but COVID-19 canceled the championship.
Yana Wilson, 15, of Henderson, Nev., defeated 14-year-old Gianna Clemente, of Estero, Fla., 3 and 2, in the 36-hole championship match at The Club at Olde Stone in Bowling Green, Ky. Battling extreme heat and humidity all week, Wilson, a quarterfinalist in 2021, to add her name to the legendary list of champions on the Glenna Collett Vare Trophy. To read more, click here
