LIVE SCORING: U.S. Girls' Junior underway in Colorado Springs
History is being made this week in Colorado in more ways than one. Not only will a champion be crowned at the U.S. Girls' Junior, but for the first time in history, a USGA championship will be conducted on a military base. The Eisenhower G.C. resides on the property of the United States Air Force Academy.

The site was originally scheduled to host in 2020, but COVID-19 canceled the championship.

Yana Wilson, 15, of Henderson, Nev., defeated 14-year-old Gianna Clemente, of Estero, Fla., 3 and 2, in the 36-hole championship match at The Club at Olde Stone in Bowling Green, Ky. Battling extreme heat and humidity all week, Wilson, a quarterfinalist in 2021, to add her name to the legendary list of champions on the Glenna Collett Vare Trophy. To read more, click here.

WHAT THE CHAMPION RECEIVES

-A gold medal
-Custody of the Glenna Collett Vare Trophy for one year
-Exemptions into all future U.S. Girls' Junior Championships for which she is age-eligible
-Exemption into the 2024 U.S. Women's Open Championship
-Exemptions into the 2023 and 2024 U.S. Women's Amateur Championships
-Invitation to the 2024 Augusta National Women's Amateur

ABOUT THE U.S. Girls' Junior Amateur

The Girls Junior Amateur is one of 14 national championships conducted by the USGA. The event is open to female golfers who have not reached their 19th birthday prior to the close of competition and whose USGA Handicap Index does not exceed 9.4. 36 hole stroke play qualifying from which 64 players advance to match play. Regional qualifying held at sites around the United States.
