AJGA Rolex Girls Junior Invitational: Asterisk Talley, 14, wins the title

One of the youngest players in the field claims a major AJGA title at

Asterisk Talley of Chowchilla, California, won the 2023 Rolex Girls Junior Championship with a 72-hole total score of 7-under-par 281 at The Golf Club at Briar's Creek in John's Island, South Carolina. Talley, No. 31 in the Rolex AJGA Rankings, held strong and finished the final round with a score of 3-under-par 69, including a long birdie putt on No. 18. This is Talley's second consecutive win after winning the 2023 Se Ri Pak Desert Junior presented by Bay Area Lyme Foundation. The 14-year-old was one of the youngest in the field, as one of five members of the Class of 2027. "I never thought that I could win something like this," said Talley. "But leading up to Rolex Girls, I have been playing well and it gave me the confidence to compete at this high-caliber level." Talley is a 2022 Rolex Junior All-American and this is her second appearance at Rolex Girls Junior Championship, she finished T12 in 2022. This is her third-career AJGA victory and her seventh AJGA top-10 finish. Yana Wilson of Henderson, Nevada, finished in second place with a total of 5-under-par 283. Wilson is the No. 3 player in the Rolex AJGA Rankings. Wilson battled Talley for the lead spot all through the back nine, but fell just two shots short. In third place, Irene Kim of Woodstock, Maryland, finished 4-under-par 284. She carded 15 birdies throughout the four round tournament. At No. 32 in the Rolex AJGA Rankings this is her eighth AJGA top-10 finish. In fourth place, Alisa Inprasit of Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand finished with a total of 3-over-par 291. Inprasit is No. 78 in the Rolex AJGA Rankings. This is her first appearance in the Rolex Girls Junior Championship and her fourth top-10 AJGA finish. In a two-way tie for fifth, Megan Meng of Pennington, New Jersey and Anna Haung of (Canada) Coto De Caza, California, both finished at 3-over-par 289. One of the AJGA series of tournaments that require an invitation to participate. For girls ages 12-19. Format is 54 holes of stroke play. Must be AJGA member.
