The Two Man Links and Father & Son Championship brought one of it’s most diverse and competitive fields to the Bandon Dunes Golf Resort for its 22nd playing. When the final putts were holed at the resort’s original Bandon Dunes course today, father and son teams won their divisions, and bonuses for having the lowest overall scores as well.

Mark and Jacob Phillips from posted four rounds in the 60s to shoot 17-under for 72-holes to capture the father and son gross prize..The Atlanta-area duo did the same thing in 2019. After opening with a 66 at Bandon Trails and following with a 65 at Pacific Dunes, they opened up a gap that would only grow wider as the week progressed.

Randall Conn and Johan Andersson
Randall Conn and Johan Andersson from Trophy Club, Texas did an excellent job giving chase, posting a solid four-round total of 10-under to win the open division trophy. They battled down the stretch for the senior title against tournament veterans Sherman Haggerty and Ben Whipple, who finished a shot back at 9-under. Friends from the Sacramento area in California, Haggerty and Whipple have played in every one of the Two Man Links events – Haggerty himself has played an amazing 20 times.

Ben Whipple and Sherman Haggerty
Jerry Silva of Taupo, New Zealand not only came the farthest to play the tournament this year, he and his son Andrew won the father and son net title and overall bonus as well. Their score of 23-under net was highlighted by a final round of 7-under 65 at Bandon Dunes in today’s final round that left no room for doubt. Cole and Grant Hemmingway were right behind them at 20-under, good enough for the overall net title. Tom Husselstein and Chris Carlson finished right behind them at 17-under.

TOURNAMENT NOTES

It had been a while since we have seen an ace at the Two Man Links. Kevin Kawasaki of San Jose brought that drought to an end just a day after a prediction by the tournament director Pete Wlodkowski while playing a practice round together. Kawasaki holed a 56-degree wedge on No. 5 at Bandon Trails on Friday, landing it one foot from the cup and spinning it sideways in.

Also notable was the net albatross recorded by Mark Webb on the 16th hole at Bandon Dunes in today’s final round. Webb, of Blairsville, Georgia, made a gross eagle on the signature hole, playing hard and fast against the angry Pacific. “That’s a two for one,” boys.
