Qualifying is complete at 51 sites around the U.S.; see who is headed to The Kittansett Club for the 67th U.S. Senior Amateur
Qualifying for the 2022 U.S. Senior Amateur has completed at 51 sites across the United States.
The USGA accepted a record 2,865 entries for the 67th U.S. Senior Amateur, to be played Aug. 27 to Sept. 1, 2022 at The Kittansett Club in Marion, Mass. The tournament is open to any golfer 55 years or older (as of Aug. 27) and whose handicap does not exceed 7.4. The field will ultimately be comprised of 156 players.

This week, on the day Rylee was playing round one of the championship, her uncle Anton Salome took the lone qualifying spot in the U.S. Senior Amateur Qualifier at Pained Dunes in El Paso, Texas. Like Rylee, Anton needed a playoff after he and Mike Lohner both shot 4-under 68, six shots better than anyone else.

After Christopher Hausen took medalist honors with an even-par 72, a 6-for-4 playoff was conducted the following day to determine the other qualifiers from Alpine Country Club in Demarest, N.J. Among those who made it through was 1997 U.S. Mid-Amateur champion Kenneth Bakst.

Last month Rylee Salome took the lone qualifying spot in the U.S. Girls' Junior Qualifier in New Mexico. This week, on the day Rylee was playing round one of the championship, her uncle Anton Salome took the lone qualifying spot in the U.S. Senior Amateur Qualifier at Pained Dunes in El Paso, Texas. Like Rylee, Anton needed a playoff after he and Mike Lohner both shot 4-under 68, six shots better than anyone else.

At Bentwater Yacht & Country Club in Montgomery, Texas, Andrew Whitacre earned medalist honors by three shots with a 4-under 68. 67-year-old Larry Nunez shot a 71 to take the second spot, while four players played off for the final spot, including Carlton Woods Senior champions Mike Booker and David Ortego. In the end, Ortego won the playoff with Booker the first alternate.
