The Atlanta father & son take home the big prize, posting 19-under best-ball over 72 holes at four of Bandon Dunes' courses

Adding a father & son division to the Two Man Links Championship has helped the tournament grow in scope and become a very quick sellout. And rather than turning the tournament into a ceremonial travel event, we have only boosted the level of competitiveness.

Witness Mark and Jacob Phillips' 19-under performance at this year's tournament. The Georgia duo held off a charge by defending champs Scott Pitts and Tim Lovell (also from Georgia) to capture the title. Pitt's and Lovell finished at 17-under, and four other teams finished in double-digit red numbers -- including two more father & son teams and a senior team.

With players from all over the United States and Canada competing in the 21st annual championship, it was nice to see Bandon Dunes fully open for indoor dining, including our traditional Sunday evening dinner before the final round. The weather was amazing with even the traditionally windswept Old Macdonald laying down in comparison to some of the days we've played there.

Pete & Lawson Wlodkowski
Pete Wlodkowski and his son Lawson won the net title at 30-under.

The duo was paced by Lawson's much-improved play after taking a series of lessons in Tucson, where he is a junior at the University of Arizona. The big breakthrough for Lawson was on Sunday when he knocked off two firsts. Breaking 80 at Sheep Ranch with a 75 on his own ball for the first time was nice. But beating his dad for the first time after many close tries was the icing on the cake.

SENIOR, FATHER & SON DIVISIONS

Senior champs Norm Lewis & Brad Kropp
Brad Kropp (Edmond, Okla.) and Norman Lewis (Madison, NJ) posted 10-under to win the Senior title by a single shot over Mark Macejko and Duff Meyer of Pinehurst, NC.

Playing together in the final round, the teams traded jabs all day, and things got interesting on the final three holes. Meyer birdied No. 16 to close the gap to two, and the North Carolinians made up another shot on No. 17 when Kropp and Lewis made bogey. Meyer hit the par-5 18th green in two but three-putted from long range, the pair fell just short of a tie.

With Team Phillips winning the overall gross title, the Father & Son award was presented to Donald and Zack Miller at 13-under. The Millers tied for the lowest Saturday round with a 67 at

Zack & Don Miller
Bandon Trails, son Zack hit prodigious drives -- leaving him just a 9-iron into the par-5 9th. Don recorded 5 birdies on his own on Saturday.

Joseph and Joseph Mark Kowalski of Scottsdale, Arizona defended their Father & Son net title, firing 23-under over the four rounds.

AmateurGolf.com would like to thank the Bandon Dunes Resort for hosting our group for the 21st straight year. We will return on April 20-24 for the 22nd edition of our favorite tournament and hope you will consider joining us.
