Chris Kamin took a three-shot lead over
John Bearrie into the final round of the Arizona Stroke Play Championship on Sunday, and following a final round 68, the Phoenix native earned a nine-shot victory at Lone Tree Golf Club in Chandler.
It marked the first Arizona Stroke Play Championship for Kamin, who previously finished runner-up in the 2020 Arizona Amateur Championship.
The round didn’t open smoothly for Kamin, who made a bogey out of the gates. However, he played bogey-free golf with four birdies the rest of the way to earn the biggest prize of his amateur career.
Bearrie, who won the 2019 Mid-Master of the Trans Mississippi Mid-Master & Senior Championship, finished with a 75 to sip into third place, behind Kamin and Joseph Lloyd, who shot a final-round 68 to move into second place.
