2021 U.S. Women's Open Champion Yuka Saso shares her experience with the bags paying homage to Poppie's Pond
Callaway is delivering with style this year at the Chevron Championship with staff bags in homage to Poppie's Pond. It's the final year the tournament will be played at the Dinah Shore course, where the Sunday jump into that pond next to the 18th green has become a tradition celebrated throughout the golf world.
“I was surprised," Yuka Saso, 2021 U.S. Women's Open champion who joined Callaway on a multi-year deal at the start of the season, said, "I think just seeing the bag reminds you of Poppie’s Pond. Just great design. They’re good.”
All of Callaway's players in the field at the Chevron Championship have the special edition staff bag this week. The crisp blue design features the slogan “Make a Splash,” with it imprinted on the base of the bag and the headcovers. The navy and light blue color scheme complement the white base, evoking emotions of one of the most famous jumps in all of golf.
They also have a grey "Callaway 2022 Majors" emblem on the side.
Saso put Callaway clubs in her bag this offseason and noticed that with the new Rogue ST driver, she’s added five yards of carry to her drives, a must for the Chevron Championship.
“I was using Callaway when I was an amateur,” Saso said. “It just feels great to be partnered with them. They're taking care of me. It's just so good what they're doing with the clubs.”
