Registration is now open -- join us in 2022 as we send our second reporter to compete in the scratch division

Registration is now open for one of the most fun tournaments in the amateur game -- The Myrtle Beach World Amateur. Played across dozens of Myrtle Beach area courses on August 29th to September 2nd, the 90 (!!!) hole event concludes with the winners from each division heading to TPC Myrtle Beach for a final 18-hole showdown for an opportunity to become the World Amateur Champion. Over 3,500 players converge to Myrtle Beach for the largest tournament in the United States, taking up over 50 different courses. Divisions are created by gender, age, and handicap, with everyone guaranteed 72 holes.

Following play each day, there's an evening party with DJs and unlimited food and drinks following each tournament round.

“It’s the closest to a professional event that players like you and I will ever experience,” said tournament director Scott Tomasello.

Notably, Scott clued me in on this. And I'd be lying if I didn't tell you it made me just a. little bit nervous.

I'll be the second representative from AmateurGolf.com to compete in this tournament. In 2019, our Kyle Rector made it to the fifth round and finished in 2nd place in his division. So I'll take the mantle up in 2022, but with a different goal: playing in my first competitive event in over seven years.

As I ramp up, I'll be testing out our partner products and sharing the steps I've taken to get back into the game. If you're aiming to dabble in the competitive amateur golf pool again, the Myrtle Beach World Amateur is as good as any event.

It's a unique setup where no one knows which courses they'll be playing until roughly a week before the first tee time. This forces players to hone in on their games in general, rather than preparing for specific shots -- unless they want to cram all their preparation the week before like a college student.

There’s plenty of time to enter at the lowest available price for the 2022 tournament, with entries sitting at $599. In addition, if you enter before April 20th, you’ll be eligible for random drawing prizes on top of saving on your entry fee.
