The first all-female women's regular-season collegiate event televised by the GOLF Channel features 10 top-25 teams
No telling which one of his many hits would Grammy Award-winning country/pop/R&B artist Darius Rucker would pick for the title song of the women's intercollegiate golf event which bears his name, but two that might be worth considering would be "For the First Time" or "History in the Making."
For the first time in its 10-year existence, the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate will be aired live on the GOLF Channel, earning it the distinction of being the first all-female women's regular-season golf event televised by the network.
In its continuing commitment to collegiate golf, GOLF Channel will provide live, three-hour coverage Monday-Wednesday from 2:30-5:30 ET from Long Cove Golf Club in Hilton Head, SC.
"Since 2012 the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate at Long Cove Club has become one of the premier events in collegiate golf, and I have always been extremely proud of the involvement of the University of South Carolina women's golf program in such a first-class tournament," said South Carolina head coach Kalen Anderson.
"Long Cove Club is a special championship venue, while the hospitality of the club's staff, membership and the private Darius concert create an even more memorable experience. To now have the opportunity to partner with the Golf Channel to televise our incredible event and showcase women's collegiate golf is a dream come true. A special thank you to Long Cove Club, the Golf Channel, Darius Rucker, the University of South Carolina, and all sponsors involved."
While the pandemic forced the cancellation of last year's event, this year's edition of the "greatest show in women's collegiate golf" is loaded with teams and individuals with national championship aspirations, as 10 of the 17 teams in the field ranked in the Golfweek/Sagarin Top 25 poll.

Host South Carolina is currently ranked second in the Golfweek/Sagarin poll while Wake Forest (5), Alabama (6) and Arkansas (7) are also ranked in the top-10. Other top-25 teams in the field include No. 12 Texas, No. 13 Arizona State, No. 16 LSU, No. 18 Auburn, No. 19 Duke and No. 25 Baylor.
Furman, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisville, North Carolina, Northwestern and Vanderbilt are also in the field.
GOLF Channel cameras won't have to search far to find elite players around the Long Cove layout. Ingrid Lindblad, the third-ranked female amateur in the world who is coming off a win at Moon Golf Invitational, leads the LSU Tigers into Long Cove. South Carolina freshman Hannah Darling, who competed for Great Britain & Ireland in last year's Curtis Cup, is currently ranked 10th in WAGR while Rachel Kuehn of Wake Forest and Benedetta Moresco of Alabama are ranked 12th and 13th, respectively.
Current U.S. Women's Amateur champion Jensen Castle will be on hand with the rest of the Kentucky Wildcats, one of eight Southeastern Conference teams in the field.
Alabama has won five of the previous nine Darius Rucker Intercollegiates while Duke owns two titles, and Wake Forest will defend the pre-pandemic championship earned in 2020. Past individual champions of the event include Maria Fassi (2018, Arkansas), Emilia Migliaccio (2020, Wake Forest), and Cheyenne Knight (2016 and 2017, Alabama).
