Florida wins third-straight Gators Invite

The Gators' Fred Biondi earns medalist honors with a career-best performance of 14-under, tying the tournament record
The University of Florida won the 45th annual Gators Invitational for the third-straight year, and for the 28th time in program history Sunday at Mark Bostick Golf Course in Gainseville.
The Gators -- paced by Fred Biondi's record-tying 14-under winning score -- posted 28-under (812) to win by 12 strokes over third-ranked Oklahoma State.
Biondi, a native of Sao Paulo, Brazil, matched the record last set by Camilo Benedetti in 2001. Playing with his Brazilian family in the gallery, he set career bests for low round (63), tournament score, and finish on the weekend. The first-round 63 posted by Biondi was also the low round of the tournament.
"I've been playing really well lately," said Biondi, who finished T2 at the Latin America Amateur Championship, missing a chance to playoff for a spot in The Masters by a single stroke.
Biondi was backed up by another outstanding Gator performance from Ricky Castillo, who posted 10-under to finish second. But any question about how the champion was going to finish was answered with a birdie on the final hole, which brought the small crowd to its feet.
Albin Bergstrom of South Florida and Eugenio Lopez-Chacarra of Oklahoma State finished T3 at 8-under. Lopez Chacarra continued the solid play that brought him a win at ----- last week, and posted three rounds in the 60's.
South Florida and Georgia Southern rounded out the top four.
