HOLLISTER, Calif. (July 5, 2008)--Scott Hardy and James Hay combined to fire a 7-under par round and take the first-day lead at the amateurgolf.com Monterey Peninsula Four Ball, held at the San Juan Oaks Golf Club.

Taylor Travis and Ryan Sloan are right on their tails, however, checking in with a first-round 66, while Pat Phillips and Kyle Gentry are in third at 69.

In the senior flight, reigning amateurgolf.com - Bridgestone Golf Player of the Year Jay Guerin teamed with Bob Reed to shoot a 69 and grab a share of the lead. Marco Dusi and Ken Webb will join them in the final group Sunday after matching the score.

The net division saw James Grensted (the runner-up for Net Player of the Year in 2007) and Bill Strahan take a one-stroke lead into Sunday's finale after carding a net 62. Sunil Bhalla and Bart Goldie are a stroke off the pace, while the teams of Korsen Yu and Greg Yates along with Rick Pittenger and Jeff Lerner each carded 65's to stay in the hunt.
