Callaway introduces a hybrid with the DNA of a driver. AmateurGolf.com got a chance to review them days before the formal launch

I love hybrids. Let's just get that out of the way from the get-go.

Even in the early days, when the technology was new -- remember all those misses left? -- I found the tradeoffs to be well worth it. I went from a player who feared a 200-yard shot to someone who embraced it.

Like finding the perfect 3-wood, replacing your favorite hybrid can sometimes be a tough sell. But technologies once found only in drivers have worked their way down through fairways, and into hybrids, to the point that they can't be ignored.

Callaway's new Epic Super Hybrids pack everything you find in their drivers into the smaller head size of a hybrid and to stunning effect.

Callaway describes them this way in the official press release:

Super Hybrid, better known as the most technologically advanced hybrid we’ve ever made. Epic Super Hybrid borrows key design and construction elements from our award-winning Epic Drivers. A proven and powerful foundation of an all-titanium A.I. designed Flash Face, titanium body, and triaxial carbon crown.

We have also incorporated several ground-breaking hybrid technologies. Our Jailbreak A.I. Velocity Blades stiffen the body, allowing the face to flex for even more ball speed and the addition of extreme tungsten weighting (up to 90 grams) located toward the perimeter of the club create a potent combination of low CG and high-MOI for a high, powerful, and stable ball flight.

Like a driver, Epic Super Hybrids are outfitted with total adjustability from our OptiFit 3 hosel, while offering adjustable sole weighting for precise custom builds. The new Epic Super Hybrid includes expanded loft offerings for a wider range of golfers with the addition of the 24° and 27° models.
