Entering the final round tied with Tug Maude at 69, Young birdies two of the last four holes to separate from the pack

The competition was fierce in today's final round at the Pennsylvania Mid-Am, with two players posting the lowest round of the tournament, but finishing just shy of champion Brett Young. Both Matthew Mattare and PJ Acierno shot 3-under 67 at Huntingdon Valley Country Club, coming off identical first rounds of 73. At even par, the pair held the.clubhouse lead as the first round co-leader Young was 2-over on the day, and 1-over for the tournament through 14 holes. But Young took advantage of the par-5 15th with birdie, and followed that with another at the par-4 16th before closing with a pair of pars and even par 70 on the day. His 36-hole score of 139 gave Young a one stroke victory over Mattare and Acierno, with first round co-leader Tug Maude finishing solo fourth. Jordan Kludowski and amateur legend Nathan Smith finished T5 at 3-over 143.

About the Pennsylvania Mid-Amateur

36-hole stroke play event open to open to any male amateur golfer who is a member of a club belonging to the Pennsylvania Golf Association and is 25 years of age or older. Qualifying is required for those who do not meet the exemption criteria.
