Coming off a Sweet 16 in the U.S. Amateur, one Vanderbilt golfer gains a head of steam heading into the fall

Vanderbilt’s Harrison Ott capped off his hot summer with one more win at the 100th Wisconsin State Open. The rising senior put an end to non-amateur Dan Woltman’s attempt to make it a three-peat at the Wisconsin Open as Woltman finished six-shots behind Ott in a tie for second. “I think I’ve figured out better what I need to play well,” Ott told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “I’ve been putting really well. I think that’s what’s pushed me over the edge this week and today.” After making it to match play at the Western Amateur in June and making a run to the Round of 16 at the U.S. Amateur last week, Ott ends his summer on a high note and continues to build momentum into the SEC collegiate fall season. Closing his fifth event of the summer with a ‘w’, Ott now has a moment to catch his breath before heading back to Nashville to begin his senior season for the Commodores. "I was home a good bit, just playing with my dad and his buddies and some of my buddies," Ott said. "Which was cool, I haven't really had time to do that. With rounds of 67-67-68-68, Ott cruised to a six-shot victory over Woltman and fellow amateur Christopher Colla who both finished in a tie for second at 4-under. "I was trying to slow down just to keep my mind where my body was,” Ott said. "It was definitely a grind. I think we were all slowing down a good bit at the end.” With the win, Ott can now place the Wisconsin Open trophy next to the Wisconsin Amateur trophy he won back in 2018.
