SAN JOSE, Calif. (Jan. 19, 2008)-- The reigning amateurgolf.com Tournament Series Player of the Year, Randy Haag, is making a bid for his second-straight Silicon Valley Amateur title by firing an opening-round 70, 2-under-par. He is joined by Jeremy Gearhart atop the leaderboard, with nine other golfers within three strokes. In the senior flight, Tony Wilmer leads by a stroke over Neil Duffy after carding a 70.
James Grensted, Mike Sly and Patrick McKenna are tied for the net flight lead at 72.
