Youth dominates after first day of play
SEBRING, Fla. (Jan. 4, 2007)-- It was a cold, blustery day in Sebring , Florida for the first round of the 53rd Harder Hall Women’s Invitational. Temperatures had dropped into the 30’s all over Florida . The cold did not affect the young golfers at Harder Hall. Allison Walshe, Arizona University , shot an even par 72 in the morning round to lead all scores. Tiffany Joh, UCLA, shot 73 and Taylore Karle, Pepperdine and the 2006 Harder Hall Champion Stacy Lewis, Arkansas shot 74.
Among the early finishers only 2006 Curtis Cup veteran Virginia Derby Grimes and current USGA Women’s Mid-Amateur Champion Meghan Bolger managed to break 80 to finish in the top twenty. Eleana Collins aced the 129 yard 16th hole en route to a first round 81.
