Dannty Evelyn, Mu Hu and Wesley Graham sit atop leaderboard at 3-under-par 67
ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. (Oct. 19, 2007)-- With a thunderstorm threatening the area, the first round for the St. Augustine Amateur finished with minutes to spare.
Against a par of 70, Florida Southern’s Danny Evelyn, Mu Hu and AJGA standout Wesley Graham finished with a score of three under par 67 to get a taste of the lead for the first round. Following the leaders, Marc Issler of Toms River, NJ finished with 68 and Bud Cauley (ranked 21st nationally) finished with 69. The competition still sits as anyone’s game between Saturday and Sunday.
Visitors, spectators, and volunteers were seen while players kept a busy on the course. Volunteers from Flagler College, The First Tee, St. Johns Golf Club, Rotary Club of St. Augustine, and St. Augustine High School put a hand towards a smooth first round. Spectators and Visitors are welcome to watch the players on Saturday & Sunday. Starting Tee times for Saturday and Final Rounds on Sunday will begin at 8:00 and the Award Ceremony begins after players finish on Sunday.
