Allen Peake teed it up for the Golfweek Senior Tournament of Champions a day after winning an FSGA event
LECANTO, Fla. (Nov. 28, 2018) – Allen Peake just wrapped up 36 holes at Southern Hills Plantation Club for a Florida Golf Association Winter Series event. Peake won by four shots on Tuesday, if you were wondering, then drove slightly north and teed it up again on Wednesday. After a 1-over 73 at Black Diamond Ranch’s Quarry Course, he’s setting the pace again. Peake has a one-shot lead at the Golfweek Senior Tournament of Champions.
Peake, who hails from Macon, Ga., had two birdies and three bogeys in Wednesday’s round. He has played a packed schedule of senior events this year, finishing outside the top 20 only twice in 18 stroke-play starts. He seems to have hit his late-year stride.
Robin Bradbury of Superior, Colo., and Gene Elliott of West Des Moines, Iowa, are tied for second at 2-over 74. Elliott qualified for the Senior Open in Scotland and since then won the Golfweek Senior Match Play title.
Mark Knecht of Paducah, Ky., is fourth at 3 over.
In the super senior division, Rob Hess had a 2-over 74 for a one-shot lead on Paul Schlachter, the Corkscrew Invite champion.
Don Kuehn of Kansas City, Mo., leads Kingsway Senior Invite champion John Blank in the legends division. Kuehn had 73 while Blank had 75.
