Corby Segal and Tim Hogarth are the sagest of SCGA veterans and when they join forces, they're especially effective.
Both men’s amateur resumes are long and distinguished. Hogarth, 52, is the 1996 U.S. Amateur Public Links champion and a decorated SCGA player who has won so many Los Angeles and Pasadena City Championship titles that it has become hard to keep an accurate count.
The two combined to win the inaugural SCGA Stableford Team Championship in 2015.
While the veterans set the pace, a group of three teams logged rounds of 4-under 67 to keep them in sight. That includes Brian Walker and Jeff McNeil; Ramie Sprinkling and Nathan Celusta; and Eric Lindquist and Satchel Hermann.
Three more teams are at 3 under, including Brandon Gama, who won both the Santa Barbara County and SCGA Public Links titles this summer, and partner John Pate. Nick Geyer, the 2016 SCGA Public Links champion, and partner Tyler Gulliksen are also at that number.
