Erdahl tops Nussey Jr. at Two Rivers Senior Invite

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (Oct. 10, 2018) – Kent Erdahl came out on top of the Two Rivers Senior Invitational on Tuesday. Erdahl set himself up for a victory with an opening 3-under 69 at Two Rivers Country Club, then used back-to-back rounds of 70 to stay on top.

Erdahl, who finished the event at 7-under 209, is a resident of Williamsburg, Va. At Two Rivers, he edged Robert Nussey Jr., by a single shot. Nussey opened with 70, then followed with 69 to tie Erdahl entering the final round. A 1-under 71 left him one shot short.

After the top two players, no other player finished under par. Michael Palmer was third at even after rounds of 71-73-72. Jim Woodson was fourth at 1 over. He opened with back-to-back rounds of 72, then posted a 73 on Tuesday.

Defending champion Leon Roday tied for fifth with Dave Pulk at 3 over.

In the super senior division, Mike McDonald had 9-over 225 to finish one shot ahead of Bob MacWhinnie for the title. McDonald started strong with rounds of 72-75, then slipped to 78 in the final round. MacWhinnie went 72-80-74, but it wasn’t quite enough to catch McDonald.

In the legends division, John Blank and Bill Flanders finished regulation tied at 5-over 221. Blank birdied the second playoff hole to take the title.

First played in 2009, this is a 54-hole stroke play competition for seniors (50-64), super-seniors (65+) and legends (70+). The field is limited to 80 contestants with an established handicap index of 10.0 or less as selected by the Two Rivers Senior Invitational Committee.
