Krissy Peterson & Hannah Swanson won the Women's title, with Phil Barricklow & Kirk Schwerzler topping the Seniors

REDMOND, Ore. (August 27, 2018) – Jim Dunlap & Jay Poletiek (Tigard/Happy Valley, Ore.), Krissy Peterson & Hannah Swanson (Canby/Forest Grove, Ore.) and Phil Barricklow & Kirk Schwerzler (Vancouver/Camas, Wash.) won titles on Monday at the 3rd Oregon Amateur Four-Ball Championship. The event was held August 24-27, 2018 at Juniper Golf Course in Redmond, Ore. Dunlap and Poletiek won the Open title, Peterson and Swanson won the Women’s title and Barricklow and Schwerzler won the Senior Men’s title. Dunlap and Poletiek, stroke play medalists all three years of the Oregon Four-Ball, began the day by defeating Trevor Harding and Robbie Ziegler in the morning’s semifinals. Their competitors in the afternoon’s championship match were the side of Ryan Duval & Clare Langford (Bend, Ore.). Both representing Central Oregon during the event, Langford advanced to last year’s Four-Ball final match as well, with playing partner Ryan DeCastilhos. The final match in the Open division was all-square after 18 holes, with Dunlap and Langford matching birdie putts on the par-5 18th. The match continued another five holes, until Langford missed a par putt and Dunlap’s par was conceded. The championship match went 23 holes, in total. Dunlap and Poletiek reached the finals in 2016, and the quarterfinals a year ago. After being the No. 1 seed in match play all three years of the tournament’s existence, the pair finally have an Oregon Four-Ball victory. In the Women’s final, Peterson and Swanson were competing against their former college coach at Portland State, Kailin Downs, and her playing partner Amy Anderson (Oregon City/Bend, Ore.). The two were attempting to win a second-consecutive title. Peterson and Swanson jumped out to a 3-up lead after three holes and never looked back. The side was 3-up after nine holes and won the next four holes to close out to match, 7&5. It’s the second OGA Championship win for both players; Peterson won the 2016 Oregon Women’s Amateur, while Swanson was victorious at the 2016 Oregon Women’s Stroke Play. The side of Barricklow and Schwerzler played Ron Hop & Alan Plusquellec (Dayton/Sherwood, Ore.) in the Senior Men’s final match. After birdieing three of the first eight holes, Barricklow and Schwerzler jumped out to a 3-up lead after nine holes. The lead was cut to 2-up after Hop birdied the 14th hole, but back-to-back birdies by Schwerzler on Nos. 15 and 16 closed out the match for the duo, 3&2.
