The 64th U.S. Senior Amateur begins Saturday at Eugene Country Club

EUGENE, Ore. (August 24, 2018) - You might say it takes 55 years of life experience to be eligible for the U.S. Senior Amateur. At least, 55 is the age cap for this week’s USGA Championship that will be played at Eugene Country Club in Eugene, Ore.

The average age of competitors is 59.62 years old, but the range spans 20 years. Marvin “Vinny” Giles, the 2009 U.S. Senior Amateur champion, will tee it up in his 21st Senior Amateur at age 75. Louis Brown, meanwhile, turned 55 on Aug. 24, making him just barely eligible for the event.
