DARTMOUTH, NOVA SCOTIA (July 22, 2018) – Stuart Lenehan captured his second MCT Mid-Amateur title Sunday at the Hartlen Point Forces Golf Club. Lenehan trailed leader Bobby Marriott by three shots entering the final round, but fired an impressive 3-under 68 to finish with a three-day total of 215.

The weather hampered the final round of the event, but the field pressed on. The day began with heavy rain, resulting in a 90-minute delay, followed by dense fog which rolled in during the afternoon. The sun eventually came out as the leaders made the turn.

Lenehan, the 2015 Nova Scotia mid-amateur champion, was one of three players who broke 70 in the final round, and it helped lift him to the winner’s circle. He went 2 under in his first three holes to start the day. He would add three more birdies and two bogeys throughout the rest of the day to reach 68. It stood in stark contrast to a second-round 76 that included two double bogeys.

Sean Stuart finished in second place after finishing the final round with a 1-over 71. The Ashburn member had a three-day total of 6-over 219. Stuart won this event two years ago.

Bobby Marriott had a final-round 75 to fall to 7 over, which was good for solo third. Marriott began the day with the lead, but couldn’t keep pace with Lenehan. Geoff Campbell was another shot behind Marriott in fourth.
