OMAHA, NE (June 29, 2018) - Alex Schaake of Omaha took an early lead and hit cruise control to win 7 and 6 in the 36-hole final of the 51st Nebraska Match Play Championship at Champions Run.

Schaake, a rising junior at the University of Iowa, made seven birdies during the first 18 holes to take a 5 up lead over University of Nebraska rising senior Jace Guthmiller, before closing out the match with a par on the 30th hole (No. 12).

It is Schaake's first Nebraska Match Play title, but his eighth NGA title overall, tied for the second most all-time, with the great Bob Astleford of Omaha. He's also the 15th player to win a Nebraska Amateur and a Nebraska Match Play.
