Weston Bell and Robert Lutomski overcame a one shot deficit at the start of the final round

ELGIN, SC (March 4, 2018) - Weston Bell and Robert Lutomski proved to be the team to beat as they shot a Tournament low score of sixteen under par 128 to capture the South Carolina's 26th Annual Partners Championship.

After starting the day one shot behind the leaders, the Piedmont and Simpsonville duo impressed to culminate a seven under par final round score of 65 to earn the championship honors by two strokes over the first-round leaders of Garland Ferrell and Wesley Harden.

In the First Flight of the Championship Division, former Partners Champions Brent and Justin Roof took a one-shot victory over Kevin Hester and Dan Sullivan. Tripp McAllister and Carter Ridgeway took top honors in the Second Flight.

In the Tournament Division, Barry Roof and Delan Stevens continued their strong play to capture a victory by one shot after a two-day total of ten under par 134. Long-time upstate partners Ken Carter and Stephen Kirven took top honors in the First Flight with a tournament total of five under par 139. Michael Griggs and Ryan Melton took a one-shot victory in the Third Flight.

The 2018 SCGA Partners Championship was played at both Spring Valley Country Club and The Members Club at Woodcreek. The field consisted of 100 two-man teams playing Captains Choice in the first round and a Modified Texas Scramble in the final round. The Championship Division competed at The Members Club at Woodcreek on day one and Spring Valley Country Club on day two, vice versa for the Tournament Division.

ROUND ONE RECAP

Greeted with brisk temperatures and steady winds throughout the day, the teams of Garland Ferrell and Wesley Harden along with Josh McMillan and Stan Sill are tied atop the leaderboard in the SCGA’s 26th Annual Partners Championship in the Championship Division, which played today at The Members Club Woodcreek course.

Consistency proved to be the trend for the Ferrell and Harden team, as they carded 5 birdies on the front nine as well as 5 birdies on the back. The team of McMillan and Sill combined for 7 birdies on the front nine along with an additional 3 birdies on the back. Both teams opened with first round scores of ten under par 62.

The upstate duo of Weston Bell and Robert Lutomski are one shot back at 63. Defending Champions, Thomas Todd and Matthew Wiggins are three shots back after posting a first round score of 65.

In the Tournament Division, Kyle Eckenroth and Jeff Neal hold a two-shot lead after posting an eight under par score of 64 at Spring Valley Country Club. Barry Roof and Delan Stevens along with Scott Biggerstaff and Gamble Ellis are tied for second with scores of 66.

The final round will be contested with a modified Texas Scramble format and will begin with a 9:30 am shotgun start.
