(September 5, 2017) - Labor Day weekend and the unofficial end of summer has come gone but the weekend did bring us one thing to be excited about, the start of college golf season. Playing at Pebble Beach No. 1 Oklahoma State started the year in fine fashion as they won the Carmel Cup for the third straight year.

For Missouri, three-straight wins in the season opening event is so three years ago. On Monday the Tigers won the Turning Stone Intercollegiate by an astounding 50 shots as all five of their players finished inside the top-five, including medalist winner Hayden Buckley.

Now we understand that Thursday isn't part of the weekend but we would be doing Sean Knapp a disservice if we didn't mention his win at the U.S. Senior Amateur in his first attempt.

At the U.S. Senior Amateur Gene Elliott was among the favorites but after falling in the Round of 32 he didn't hang his head, rather he headed home and promptly won the Iowa Senior Amateur for the second straight year and third time overall.

One of the biggest junior events of the year was held over the weekend as SMU commit Shuai Ming Wong won the AJGA Junior PLAYERS Championship.

On Sunday Travis Smyth became the latest amateur to record a victory on the Australian PGA Tour.

In regional action Curtis Henley claimed the Myrtle Beach World Amateur Handicap Championship while at the Inland Empire Amateur 16-year-old Edwin Kuang captured the title.

Also fives were wild for Danny Nelson as the 55-year-old won his fifth Savannah City Amateur.

The annual California State Fair was held over the weekend and with that comes the California State Fair Amateur. Among the winners on Monday were San Diego State senior Blake Abercrombie in the Men's Championship Division, Vanessa Ha from of USF in the Women's Championship Division, the Senior Division was won by Ken Webb, Herb Jensen earned the victory in the Super Senior Division while Ryan Sloane won his fourth straight Masters Division title.

So with our Weekend Report we don't always take a look ahead but with the Walker Cup just days away we want to make sure you prepared for the start of the matches. With that said we have started off our coverage this week with a look at the Team USA plan for the week and also the TV times, schedule of events for the week.
