HIGHLAND PARK, IL (August 28, 2017) - After the completion of Round 1 of the 25th Illinois State Mid-Amateur Championship Monday at Exmoor Country Club, a lightning delay at 4:41 p.m. led to the suspension of Round 2. Nine players finished the second round, leaving the rest of the field to complete Round 2 starting at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday morning. The low 35 and ties after the second round will advance to the final 18-hole round later in the day.

Among those who finished 36 holes was Riley Bauman (Crystal Lake), who followed up an opening-round 72 with a 3-under 69 in Round 2 to surge into the lead. Tied atop the leaderboard with Bauman is his brother Greg Bauman (Chicago), who began the day with a 3-under 69 in Round 1 and is currently even-par through 12 in the second round.

One stroke behind the Bauman brothers is John Ehrgott (Edwards), who was the morning co-leader after an opening-round 69. He'll continue his second 18 on the 17th hole, 1-over par for the round and 2-under overall. Andrew Price (Lake Bluff), the 2014 champion, is in third at 1-under after rounds of 72 and 71. Defending champion Todd Mitchell (Bloomington) is 1-over par overall through 13 holes of his second round, tied for sixth.
